Welcome to the Congregation Beth Israel website! We hope that the words, photographs and links that make up our website will not only provide you with concrete information about our Temple community, but will also give you a feel for the unique "texture" of our congregation.

Congregation Beth Israel strives to blend what is most endearing about the city of Austin -- it's openness, friendliness, natural beauty, intellectual liveliness, artistic and musical culture and social awareness -- with the best of contemporary Reform Judaism: warmly welcoming all who walk through our doors; creatively engaging children and adults in the study of Torah; striving for authenticity and attentiveness in our relationships with each other, especially in times of celebration or difficulty; coming together for life enhancing and spiritually alive worship experiences; and being true to the Prophetic imperatives of Reform Judaism through community service and advocacy for social justice.

We are proud to be "a city congregation!" Our beautiful, Central Austin campus -- including our gardens, which have received certification as an Urban Wildlife Habitat from the National Wildlife Foundation -- is easily accessible by public transportation and is only a few minutes' drive from North Austin, Downtown Austin and the University Of Texas.

We would consider it a blessing to welcome you to any one of the many activities and gatherings detailed elsewhere on our website!

Shalom,

Rabbi Steve Folberg

Join us in enriching the Jewish life and identity for young and old, newcomers and veterans.
Membership is not a ticket to activities--our doors are open to all.
Rather, it is a way to participate in the service of doing.
It is being a part of the mitzvah of helping to create and sustain Jewish life for those who want it, need it, and are enriched by it.
